Why Commercial Gutters Fail and What It Costs You
Commercial and industrial gutters handle significantly larger volumes of rainwater than domestic systems. On a warehouse, factory or distribution centre, a single gutter run can be hundreds of metres long, managing thousands of litres of rainwater every time it rains heavily.
When that system starts to fail, whether through corrosion, joint failure, blockage or deteriorating coatings, the consequences go well beyond a visible leak. Water ingress at eaves level is one of the most common causes of internal building damage in commercial properties. It affects insulation, triggers structural corrosion in roof sheets and steel, damages stock, creates health and safety hazards and in severe cases disrupts operations entirely.
The frustrating reality for most facilities managers and commercial property owners is that the damage caused by failing gutters nearly always costs more to fix than the gutter refurbishment itself would have. A small leak left unaddressed for a season becomes damp insulation, corroded steelwork and potential roof failure.
The earlier the gutters are assessed and treated, the lower the overall cost.
